Developing Your Post-Partum Care Plan
Welcoming a new baby or babies into the home through pregnancy or surrogacy can be the “perfect storm” bringing changes in all areas of our lives: biological, neurological, hormonal, identity and role, relationships, routines, grief and loss, trauma, while managing our expectations of ourselves and others.
Planning ahead by developing a postpartum care plan can:
- Identify personal and family needs
- Reduce stress
- Improve communication
- Manage expectations of self and others
- Increase confidence
Developing a postpartum care plan to include information about perinatal mood and anxiety symptoms, identifying supports, understanding emotional triggers, and response strategies can help to ease the transition and increase confidence and self-efficacy.
This session may be helpful for those who have a preexisting mental health challenge or who have experienced a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder during previous pregnancies and postpartum periods.
Service Details: Sessions are 90 minutes and can be booked individually or as a couple. Services are covered under most insurance plans under social work or psychotherapy.
